About YOSAKOI Soran Festival
The event starts with 1,000 participants from 10 teams in 1992 (Heisei 4), with an event that dances by mixing “Naruko” and “Soran-bushi” from Hokkaido with reference to the “Yosakoi Festival” in Kochi Prefecture. It is now an event that approximately 30,000 people from inside and outside Japan participate, and approximately 2 million spectators visit. At Odori Park, the main venue, you can see dances on the parade and the stage, and there are “Waodri Square” where you can go in and out, and booths where you can taste food from all over the country. Dance venues will be set up in various places in Sapporo. In addition to energetic choreography, bright costumes and makeup are one of the highlights.
